    This is one of a series of posts to mark the international Rugby players who died during The Great War. If anyone has further information on the men concerned, I’d be most grateful if it could be added to the thread.

    Simson, Ronald Francis played for Scotland

    Internationals: 1 : 1911 E- (1t)

    Ronald Simson was born on 6 September 1890, Edinburgh, son of Mr D J and Mrs I A Simson.

    Played as a Centre for: Edinburgh Academy, RMA Sandhurst, London Scottish, Royal Artillery, The Army

    Profession: The Army

    Remarks: Played for the Officers of the Army v the Officers of the Royal Navy in 1911 (22-13), 1912 (8-16) and 1913 (8-18).

    War service: Lieutenant, 16th Battery, Royal Field Artillery, XLI Brigade, 2nd Division.

    He was killed in action on 14 September 1914, during the Battle of the Aisne, and is buried in Moulins New Communal Cemetery, Aisne, France [Grave 2].

    I was hoping Barry had taken individual photos of the headstones ... but we just have to know that one of those 10 belongs to Ronald !
