    I came across this looking for something else and I thought it may help somebody !

    Sgt. Lewis was lost in this incident.......

    22 February 1941

    209 Squadron
    Lerwick I L7263 WQ-L

    Missing on patrol and possibly crashed in position 5340N 1240W.

    14 fatalities.

    I just don't like to ignore these young men when I come across them by accident - I'd like to think that somebody will be pleased to find them someday !:eek:hwell:

    The Lerwick was not a successful aircraft and one imagines the men who flew them very much felt they had been given an inferior aircraft to the Sunderland (Cheaper to carry on production than stop; someone's got to fly 'em).

    The wiki entry mentions the loss of Owens a/c, L7263

    I found this and that's what you said Peter ..... Isn't 14 a lot though ? .... I didn't think they were allowed a crew that big ! :eek:hwell:
