Battalion The Queens Own Royal West Kent Regiment In Memory of Serjeant THOMAS JAMES HARRIS V C, M M 358, 6th Bn., Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) who died age 26 on 09 August 1918 Son of William John and Sarah Ann Harris, of 6, Manor Terrace, Halling, Rochester, Kent. Remembered with honour DERNANCOURT COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION Corporal Thomas Harris photographed in England (c December 1917) during convalescence from a shrapnel wound. Not long afterwards he returned to active duty in France where he was promoted to Sergeant. He was awarded the Military Medal in April and the Victoria Cross in August, 1918. He was killed in the last action, aged 26.
