Does anyone know anything about these? I have just been given a brass cartridge casing and it has the following markings..

    At the 12 o'clock position. "A"

    At the 3 o'clock position. "2 N 97" With a Govt Arrow above the Letter "N" and number "12" below the "N"
    A Bit like..

    2 ^
    2 N 97
    212

At the 6 o'clock position. Roman Numeral 2 "II"

At the 9 o'clock position. "CF"

    Any help appreciated, thanks.

I know that they refer to where and when they were made however it is not my field at all.

My interest goes as far as loading my Remington .243 and Winchester .44Magnum and shooting pigs.

    Cheers
