This appeared in the Daily Telegraph: World War II US D-Day invasion tank unearthed in France - Telegraph The article also mentions a WW1 tank unearthed by a local hotelier at Flesquieres, near Cambrai a few years ago. I took this picture of "Deborah" in 2004. It received a direct hit from a German 75mm shell; amazingly four of the eight crew survived Adrian
Paul Reed, who I am sure many of you know, wrote a nice story on the Flesquieres tank which you can find here: HELLFIRE CORNER - Monchy-le-Preux - Arras - Burials There are some good updates since 1998 - wow, 10 years ago.
What an amazing find. Good post, AR. I'm amazed that so much of either tank has survived over the 60 years but then the Russian finds never cease to amaze me despite the apparent regularity of finds there. Makes you wonder what else is right under our feet. M5 Stuart?
Yes of course, the M5 (and M3) was the Stuart; the Sherman was the M4. Tanks aren't my speciality; the later they are the less I know of them.
