I have just published a book of v-mail cartoons created by my adoptive father, Harry E. Chrisman, while he served in the Pacific during WWII. Harry drew hundreds of his cartoons on v-mails for other G.I.'s during the war and I am trying to find any that might still exist. The cartoons or perhaps just a drawing of a crab or gooney bird would be signed "HEC." The book, "This Is The Army, Mr. Jones!" will be available November 1, 2013 at Amazon, Barnes and Nobel, and other bookstores. It is merely volume one of three volumes as I have over 400 v-mails in various categories. I'm hoping to include the v-mails and stories of any cartoons Harry drew for the children and families of his fellow soldiers in a separate volume. Harry served on Maui, Christmas Island with the Birch Task Force, and in Honolulu with the Army Port and Service Command. I hope those who might have one of Harry's cartoons will let me know via this forum. Thank you.
Welcome aboard Sheryl, you there. All the best wishes for your effort towards publishing such a book. Thanks.
