I thought this was an interesting and surprising statistic ...... Scotland had the most casualties ..... Rugby Internationals killed in world war I - Scotland 30 England 27 France 23 New Zealand 12 Wales 11 Australia 9 Ireland 9 Wales 3 South Africa 4 Germany Not available
I think that I saw somewhere that at least one USA international was killed in the War, but I can't confirm it. Gareth
Hi Gareth ! The only one I can find is Dan Carroll ..... he served in the American Army in the First World War and went on to play, despite having been wounded, for the Australian Army in the King’s Cup tournament (a mini-Rugby World Cup) in 1919 ! http://ww1talk.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=1797&highlight=carroll but I'll keep looking !
