It is interesting that he hints at the myths of the bombings. A couple that I have read about:

    1) some people in Ireland believed that the British deliberately bombed Ireland using German aircraft and/or bombs so as to draw Eire into the war on the Allied side. There has never been any evidence of this, but the rumours were spread and believed by many Irish who still remembered the recent war of indepenence and were willing to believe the worst of the British

    2) The bombing of Dublin was believed to have been a consequence of British efforts to divert German bombers away from British cities by "bending" the radio-direction beams used by the Luftwaffe. There is some truth in this, though a lot of the information in the public domain is rather confused.

It should also be noted that though Eire was neutral, its treatment of the aircrews interned after they crashed in Ireland, was rather different, due mainly to the pressure of Britain and America to get better treatment. By the middle of the war, a lot of the Allied aircrews were quietly allowed to return whilst the Germans were held to the end of the war (because of the pressure by Britain and America to make sure that the Irish did not release aircrews to return to action).
