We'll start with the facts and work back - it may make it all the easier to understand how World War One actually happened. The events of July and early August 1914 are a classic case of "one thing led to another" - otherwise known as the treaty alliance system

A good link Annie; I'm happy to see that the author included Bismarck and the German Unification war as , if not the precursor, but certainly setting the stage for WW1. Most people (not historians) just look at the assassination and the treaties as the cause and stop there. ASIDE: got 1391 BWIR names off Geoff's SE!
