    Dare I correct you? The British BE 9 also incorporated a 'pulpit' observer's position in front of the propeller. It was instantly disliked by fliers, who could easily imagine the consequences of an aeroplane tipping onto its nose during a landing. One was sent to No 16 Sqn RFC in France for evaluation, but not flown on operations before returning to the UK.

    The SPAD A2 was used in some numbers by the Russians, who were desperate enough to operate anything that could fly.
