On the night of February 16th (?) 1918 - I think it was the Gotha Raid ... a bomb hit the Royal Hospital - five were killed and three children were pulled out of the rubble !

My question is ... why were there children at the Royal Hospital ? ( I thought it was only for Chelsea pensioners ..... )

And just a little off topic ... but God Bless this old soldier .... lived all those years to be killed by a bomb ... in a supposedly safe place !! :(

    RATTRAY Henry Augustus

    In-pensioner. Late 24th Regiment of Foot. Died 16th April 1941. Aged 100.
