    This is one of a series of posts to mark the international Rugby players who served in, and survived, The Great War. If anyone has further information on the men concerned, I’d be most grateful if it could be added to the thread.

    Batchelor, Tremlett Brewer played for England

    Internationals: 1: 1907 F+

    Tremlett Batchelor was born on 22 June 1884

    Played as a Wing for: Rugby School, Oxford University, The London Hospital, Richmond, United Hospitals, Eastern Counties

    Profession: Medicine

    War service: A/Major, Royal Army Medical Corps, 5th Cavalry Field Hospital in France 1915-1918; Mentioned in Despatches 1918

    Remarks: MRCS 1914

    He died on 21 December 1966, in Liverpool

    Thanks. As you've doubtless noticed, the players who survived - especially the one cap wonders - are often more difficult to research than the men who died in the War.

    I've been backing off as I've been up to my eyes in another project .... so I haven't been concentrating on these men .... :) but the fact that they have his death certificate available ... I thought was relevant !

    Thought I'd give somebody else a chance ! :)

    BATCHELOR, Tremlett Brewer.
    Born June 22, 1884. Son of J.F. Batchelor. Educated at Rugby, and was in the School Fifteen 1902, and University College, Oxford. M.A. 1910. Played in the Oxford Fifteen 1906, and International football, England v. France 1907, London Hospital Fifteen, United Hospitals, Eastern Counties Fifteen, and Richmond F.C. Secretary of London Hospital F.C. 1910, vice-captain 1911. Ran for the London Hospital in the Inter-Hospital Sports 1909 and 1911, representing the Hospital in the quarter and half mile. Medical student, London Hospital. Address: Hopwood, Alvechurch, Worcestershire.
