    Did you know ? .........

The parents of legendary American outlaw Butch Cassidy lived in Victoria Road in Preston and emigrated to escape religious persecution of their Mormon faith. It was said that - unlike Paul Newman's cinematic portrayal - Butch spoke with a thick Lancashire accent :D

Wilcannia - now only a ghost of its former glory, but with some magnificent 19th century buildings.

Which one of the towns mentioned by you was the scene of an armed insurrection during the Great War?

The quartz outcrop where the two Jihadists (for want of a better term) made their last stand features a metal replica of the ice cream cart that carried their weapons. There's also an illustrated history of the incident on a couple of noticeboards.
