The two Photographs I've attached are of a friends grandfather, given I'm a historian and wargamer he's asked me to identify the units his grnadfather served with I've now exhausted my library and have to admit I'm a little stuck. I believe one of the cap badges may be an East Yorkshire Regiment one (the one in the photo with two men) but the other badge has me stumped anybody offer assistance Thanks Richard
Hi Richard, Welcome to the forum. The photo of the chap on his own, i'm leaning towards The General Service Corps but i will have to check my data base as i will have to for the chaps together. But i think your right about them being East Yorkshire Regiment. Regards Mike
Hi Richard, I blew the photo up and looking at the badge my thoughts at first that he looks like WO1 RSM, so may be another area to look at as well, as The General Service corp Badge of the RSM below Regards Keith
I thought when i saw it that it looked very similar to the RSM's badge but that would of been worn on the arm and not as a cap badge. I have just checked and found a photo of the General Service Corps cap badge and its exactly like the one he is wearing so i can say with 99.9% certainty that is what it is. If you put General Service Corps into your search engine and then click on images you should come up with a pic of the cap badge you are looking for. Mike
Keith and Mike seem to be correct. I think that is SO cool that you have these photos. How old are they?
Hi joshthe boss I don't know, had the pictures for a little while cant remember where i got them from, , as i was researching a solider for a friend i know they were ww1.
