I don't know if this is the correct thread in which to post this.  :-\

What I'm trying to do is get some background information on the burials of these boys for someone who's writing about them in the chapter of his book. The gentleman is looking more for information regarding the military funeral/burial part rather than the individual soldiers themselves. We're both assuming that upon the deaths of these boys, a funeral detail would have been sent to the burial site to dig the graves. Then the bodies would have been hauled to the site via horse and wagon. What the author would like to know is how military funerals were conducted back then with regard to any memorial service, whether the deceased were placed in caskets or wrapped in shrouds, etc .

    Thanks!
