This is one of a series of posts to mark the international Rugby players who served in, and survived, The Great War. If anyone has further information on the men concerned, I’d be most grateful if it could be added to the thread.

Vincent Henry Cartwright (September 10, 1882 - November 25, 1965) was a English rugby union international who captained his country. He also played first-class cricket for Nottinghamshire. Cartwright played his seven first-class cricket matches with Nottinghamshire between 1901 and 1904 as a right-handed batsman but could only manage 60 runs.

He was the first player from the Nottingham R.F.C. to be capped for England. All but three of his 14 caps came in the Home Nations, with the other internationals coming against France, New Zealand and South Africa. He also kicked four conversions during his international career. After retiring he became a referee and was President of the Rugby Football Union in 1928 and 1929.
