What does this mean?

    Hi to all
    on my dads discharge certificate is says
    M E F 2 10 40 19 6 42
    P O W 20 6 42 14 5 45
    what does MEF stand for please
    and in the Royal Artillery I assume a GNR was a private.

    GNR is a Gunner = Private as you said.

    As to MEF I really cannot say. Am sure one of the boys will be along later to tell you.

    Mediterranean Expeditionary Force.!!! Guess he was most probably captured at Tobruk, given the date of June 1942. Just read your flywheel thread and see he was captured Tobruk..
