Gareth Church, William Campbell played for Scotland Internationals: 1 : 1906 W- William Church was born on 1884, in Glasgow, the son of Major W R M Church (8th Battalion, Cameronians). Played as a Wing for: Glasgow Academy, Glasgow University, Glasgow Academicals Profession: Not known Remarks: Partly educated in Switzerland. He was selected to play for Scotland v New Zealand in 1905, but declined. War service: Captain, 1/8th Battalion, Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), 156th (Scottish Rifles) Brigade, 52nd (Lowland) Division. He was killed in action on 28 June 1915, at Gallipoli, and is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey [Panels 92 to 97].
