William Davies : Rugby Player

    This is one of a series of posts to mark the international Rugby players who served in, and survived, The Great War. If anyone has further information on the men concerned, I’d be most grateful if it could be added to the thread.

    Davies, William Avon played for Wales

    Internationals: 2: 1912 S+ I- (1t)

    William Davies was born on 27 December 1890 in Aberavon

    Played as a Centre for: Port Talbot CS, Exeter University, Aberavon, Plymouth, Devon

    Profession: Schoolmaster

    Remarks: Joined the Rugby League (Leeds RLFC) in 1913, later Keighley RLFC.

    War service: Perhaps Royal Navy, his rank is shown as Writer in a newspaper article discussing his playing for a Welsh XV v the New Zealand Army in December 1918.

    He died on 18 September 1967 at Exeter.

    I have no idea of names on these photos .... but he's one of the faces !! ( I think ) :rolleyes: and I can't make them any bigger !!
