William Jones : Rugby Player

    This is one of a series of posts to mark the international Rugby players who served in, and survived, The Great War. If anyone has further information on the men concerned, I’d be most grateful if it could be added to the thread.

    Alas, men with common Welsh surnames are very difficult to research.

    Jones, William John played for Wales

    Internationals: 1 : 1924 I-

    William Jones was born on 4 February 1894, in Cefneithin.

    Played as a Flanker for: QEGS Carmarthen, Carmarthen Training College, Carmarthen Harlequins, Llanelli

    Profession: Headmaster

    War service: Not known, but he served in France

    Remarks: Taught at Cefneithin School when Carwyn James and Barry John were pupils.

    He died on July 1978, in Llanarthney.
