WW1 men born or connected with the Poole/Bournemouth, Dorset Area

    Hello. I'm researching servicemen who were either born or who had connections with the Poole/Bournemouth area. I'd love to hear from any descendants. Thanks

    LAW Edward Michael Fitzgerald

    Lieutenant, 1st Battalion, Dorsetshire Regiment. Killed in action 11th August 1918. Aged 20. Son of Sir Archibald and Lady Law, of the Old Farm, Parkstone Rd., Poole, Dorset. Buried in BOUCHOIR NEW BRITISH CEMETERY, France. Plot VI. Row E. Grave 22.

    LAW, MC and Bar Robert Archibald Fitzgerald

    Captain, 1st Battalion, attached 7th Battalion, Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire Regiment). Died of wounds 31st October 1918. Aged 21. Awarded the Military Cross and Bar (M.C. and Bar). Son of Sir Archibald Law, Kt., and Lady Law, of "The Old Farm," Parkstone Rd., Poole, Dorset. Buried in ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN, France. Section S. Plot V. Row E. Grave 5.

    This is kind of out in left field Morten ..... :D but I came across this .... ! ( though you probably already know about it !! )

    Every 31st of October the ghost of a soldier is seen getting a drink of water at the Town Hall in Bournemouth but then I found this .......

    Thanks Annie. Yes, I've tried to find out about local hospitals and Mount Dore was the biggest in my area. Pity nobody thought to get the ghost's serial number though? :) Regards Morten

    Thanks Annie. Capstone Road is very interesting as two VC Winners lived there. You probably know, F C Riggs was the other winner. I often walk down Capstone Road to look at the blue plaques, erected by Bmth Borough Council. Morten

    on 18 November 1943
    Son of John Henry and Farmy Rosen, of Bournemouth, Hampshire.

    1144632 Flight Sergeant Anthony Ezra Rosen, son of John Henry and Farmy E. Rosen of 35 Jamieson Road, Winton, Bournemouth, volunteered February 1941. Survived crash on 23 September 1943 in Lancaster I W4923 SR-N2 after Mannheim raid, near Ludford, take-off 1835, returned 0335. Killed in action 18-19 November 1943 in Lancaster III LM 370 SR-K2 over Berlin, take-off Ludford 1721, buried Schoonebeek, 14 kms southeast of Drente, Holland.
