Were you one of those popsies who used to run around going wild with American service men in 43" Nana?
CTNana, I'm not sure whether you are offended or just watching these reprobates dig themselves deeper in their holes. But I would say that you should feel sorry for them - well they are Australians who obviously have a problem with the English language :>
And Nana, here's a song for you. You'll need quick time to play it Popsie. http://bian.ca/refer/veralynn.MP3
This is not ww2 but it should have been. Everytime I hear her sing this song, it evokes visions of pride for the troops. (She sung with such feeling) YouTube - Edith Piaf - Non je ne regrette rien
Watching!!! Aviator - Vera Lynn is a tad (okay smidgin) before my time! Aviator & Spidge - how nice to hear beautiful songs, sung by elegant women who don't need to strut their stuff in less than their underwear! Ella Fitzgerald more to my taste. We used to go to lots of Ella, Ray Charles, Count Basie, Duke Ellington etc. concerts when we were courting, then my husband confessed that he hated them - loves all of them now though.
You would love these CT. Listen to it right through. YouTube - Summertime - Ella Fitzgerald & Louis Armstrong and this, My favourite: Always associate this with a soldier returning to his home after the war is over. YouTube - What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
Thanks Spidge I used to have Summertime on an LP but loaned it to somebody who didn't return it. I have tried for ages to get a copy on CD. Louis Armstrong - aaah! that track was one of my Dad's favourite records. I had a wonderful memory of him singing along to it. I wonder what record my kids will associate with me, or yours you?
OK, is it sad to be liking this stuff at 28? Nana, I think I may have the right avi for you. Would you like me to upload it for you?
