The photo search is really interesting.

I had a chap that offered all of Belgium for me. I had about 100 and needed 212 in 45 cemeteries.

He did them all over a period of 6 months on his travels around for work.

    Quite amazing really.

    Cheers

you all realise he has set up a den in the attic with an old PC, TV, hundreds of discs, MP3 converting turntable and printers etc, all in the name of doing this project? :D

Yes hun and how often do i get up there? Anyway, you can use it if you want to. Jez its going to be busy over the winter naming all the cemeteries, mp3'ing all my old vinyl, converting all my old vhs videos onto dvd. Wonder if there's going to be time for me to go to work, haha. On a note of cemeteries, we are heading into the far reaches of Bedfordshire in a few weeks, does anyone have any requests of headstone photos from that county? If so let me know and we will do our best to get them for you.

Me go up there? Do you think there is room?! Admittedly once I can figure out what is wrong with that damn puter and why so much of the memory is taken up, then it will be better. I think first things first we have to remove all of the images onto an external to free up 17gigs of space, then i can defrag it properly.

    Australian Headstones in Bedfordshire

    ALL NOW COMPLETED

    Hi Sniper,

Of the nearly 3,000 Aussies buried or memorialised in the UK, I only had (2) originally in Bedfordshire and have just found another in the RAF with an Australian connection.

If you are near any of them it would be great to cross them off the list.

NEWTON , TERENCE Flying Officer 39943 218sq 13/07/1940 25 RAF UK West of Tower. CARLTON (ST. MARY) CHURCHYARD UK Bedfordshire

His parents lived in Australia however I am unable to confirm "if" he was Australian and living with his uncle in the UK. (EDIT) moved to Australia with his family in 1920 aged 5 years.

NEVETT, HORACE ARTHUR Pilot Officer 86701 24 EFT 16/02/1941 26 Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve UK Sec. 3. Row D. Grave 18. LUTON CHURCH BURIAL GROUND UK Bedfordshire

Worked his passage on a cargo ship in 1939 to join the RAF and arrived just after the declaration of war.

BYRNE, CALVERT PHILIP Flight Sergeant 436143 11 AFU 23/11/1944 24 Royal Australian Air Force Australian Grave 224. LUTON GENERAL CEMETERY UK Bedfordshire

    Cheers

I'll see what i can do Spidge. The other half wants to check out RAF Cardington and i'm hoping to be able to see the Airship hanger at Cardington where the R100 airship was based. My grandfather was an engineer aboard the R100 when it flew to Canada in 1929. Also he married a local girl there so i'm trying to track down the family history from that area.

    No Problem Mike.

I had not even looked where Carlton and Luton are on the map.

    Hope you enjoy the research.

    Hi Spidge,

Carlton is not too far from Bedford but Luton is now part of Hertfordshire and at the other end of the county to Bedford, however i do have most of that cemetery done and will look tonight for you to see if i have them. I have a few i have to look for Reece in that cemetery and will get it done tonight and get them emailed over to the pair of you. Will do my best to get you Carlton, its the next village on from where i have to go and see if i can find some family graves and hopefully some church records.

Not sure he's managed to access he photos yet, am still having trouble sorting the puter out, but then it should be fine. And when he says look at RAF Cardington and the airship sheds, what he means is a full urbex of the place with hundreds of photos taken :D

That would be great but don't put pressure on yourself. The good thing about headstones is they will still be there next time.

    Cheers and thanks
