Government won't help WW2 veterans attend 65th D-Day commemoration

    Damned if they do damned if they don't.
    If they do then every other service organization will want some money and if they don't pay up, then the media and others are just going to eat it up.

    They payed for the 60th celebrations and it says's that they said at the time that no more were to be paid for, while i sympathise with these hero's of a special generation
    WW2, they have had five years to organise fund raisers and the like.

    Same for the Aussie Air men who want to go to London, I reckon most of these organisations would be able to attend all events they want if they only fund raise properly, they can get professional help from parts of the RSL in OZ and Veteran organisations around the world.

    The problem with fundraising, Cobber, is it depends on the members of the particular association and the efforts they put in. Their families can help of course but it still comes back to the members and, unfortunately, the mind is willing but...
