The engine? Nope, WWI aero gear isn't my strength...assuming it is a WWI aero engine.

Where was the photo taken, Annie?

Manfred von Richthofen's trophy board, with the fabric strips of the serial numbers of his victims cut out and pasted on.
The light fitting is a rotary engine from one of his victims (possibly Hawker's DH2).

(Obviously Golden Wattle got there first, I'm just adding detail).

    Hi,
Who said of Tobruk, it would simply be intolerable for any individual unit in Egypt to withdraw ”unless 50 percent casualties are sustained”

    Who's the fastest?
Is this unfair as the auusies will read this first?

    Cheers

    Heidi,
    It was the following:
Manfred von Richthofen's trophy board, with the fabric strips of the serial numbers of his victims cut out and pasted on

Churchill fought cat and dog not to lose any of the Australian divisions so I will have to go for him.

    Hi All,
    Spidge answered correctly.
Apparently Churchill sent a cable to Wavell: Tobruk seems to be the place to be held to the death without thought of retirement. I should be glad to hear of your intentions.

Churchill added that it would be simply be intolerable for any individual unit in Egypt to withdraw ”unless 50 percent casualties are sustained”

    Cheers

OK guys we need some order in this thread. Far too many questions being asked at the same time.

    Let's be fair.
    1. The format in a quiz thread is for one person to ask a question, then members provide answer(s).
    2. The member who asked question comes back and lets us know whether any member as answered correctly.
    3. The member who answered correctly (if there is more than one, then the first member who answered correctly) gets to ask the next question.
    4. To make it easier, the last member who asked the question should state "XXXXX it is your turn", preferably highlighted in a different colour
    5. As stated in the first post in this thread, there is a time limit. If the questioner does not come back in a given time to provide the correct answer, then the thread is open to all members.
    6. It is the responsibility of the members to check the time that a question was asked so as to gauge whether the time-limit has elapsed
    7. The NEW time limit is 24 hours after the question has been asked

    Looks like an astro-globe
