It was indeed a beautiful day. And then it went wrong and I blame Sniper entirely for this We were on our way to photograph war graves at Alderley Edge (see how its now sniper's fault?) when we turned at the traffic lights. Speeding up to go from 2nd to 3rd gear, and the numpty in front of us slams on his brakes, THEN puts on his indicator to turn across the road and into the garage by the lights. Mum slams on our brakes, i curl up in the seat and BANG! straight into the back of the numpty's subaru, which turned out to be built like a tank. Mums car is now a write off, and his has a slight dent in the boot lid and bumper. Yes, it was a gorgeous day while we sat waiting for the breakdown. But on the upside I get to hand in my dissertation tomorrow
Public holiday in Australia tomorrow for Anzac Day and so, a nice long weekend. I hope people realise what the holiday is for. Anzac Day is only a "Holiday" if it falls on a weekday.
Trust you guys are okay and the only damage was to the cars. You know what Subaru is backwards? U r a bus... Congratulations on finishing your dissertation, Kitty!!!! Does this mean you are finished?
RAVE: This has just made my day :cheer2: BBC NEWS | Business | Banks lose overdraft charges case RANT: * the customers will still get screwed
Tony Blair! RANT: I knew I'd read this somewhere and it has taken me ages to find the story (apparently picked up by the Daily Mail & a small item in the Daily Express). I must have seen it alongside something that Andy posted. Former PM caught fare-dodging on train - SBS World News Australia I thought that it was an offence to board a train without first having purchased a valid ticket for the duration of the journey. So 1) Mr Blair knew that he had not purchased a ticket and knew that he had neither cash nor cards on him (men always go abroad without their wallets don't they?) 2) The accompanying policeman, who had bought his own ticket, must have been aware that Mr Blair had not got a ticket! 3) When challenged by a ticket inspector, the policeman allegedly offered to pay for Mr Blair but was advised that this would not be necessary Mr Blair was flouting the law (again), his policeman / bodyguard was complicit and there is absolutely no way that any train company would have reacted like this if you or I had genuinely left our wallet / purse at home. Who gave the railway employee the authority to do this? I guess not buying your train ticket is small beer on the scale of lawbreaking when compared to going to war illegally!!!! RAVE: ????? - not a good day!!!!!!
He is only following in the footsteps of Cherie Blair who was taken to court because she was travelling without a valid ticket.
RAVE: Got a Seth Lakeman CD in the post today. Love it RAVE: Finished Uni as well today RANT: Need a decent job now
Further to my Post 45 in Wally of the week, I picked up my car on Friday afternoon, dented my credit card (whilst everyone argues about how I could have hit a drunken driver to demolish the front of her car with my rear nearside wing (she drove into me)) and it has stayed parked on the drive until .... our son invited us to lunch today. As we left the restaurant we were just in time to see a car reverse into the front offside wing causing similar expensive damage. Fortunately he stopped!!! - Prior to this in nearly 40 years driving I have only ever had one other accident (another drunken driver who put me and my then small children in hospital and wrote off my company car) but I now have another strike against my protected???? no claims!!! I am trying really hard to say that at least neither we nor our grandchildren were in the car this time. (it keeps getting stuck in my throat!!!)
I would offwer to sell you some lucky white heather, but the warehouse burnt down last night and I am waiting for the insurance assessor!
After the day that I have had only a Scot would SELL me lucky white heather! Shame about the warehouse though - thanks Morse you at least made me smile!!!! By the way are you now Vail1001?
RANT: I'm getting more and more work at high school. I can't cope with it... -_- RAVE: It was me and my girlfriend's fifth anniversary on Wednesday!! RANT: I never knew it was this hard to write a book; I always seem to get writer's block. RAVE: I'm slowly getting over it and writing more and more ever day about the story.
teehee thanks Andy! Problem is, i finished a month ago and still have the nagging doubt i should be doing coursework
Ah, you did find my post. Couldn't remember where I had posted it! Should still be doing course work? But, you're finished! Guess if you've been doing for so long, it'll feel odd. Got any jobs lined up?
pfft I wish! Am looking hard but finding very little I can apply for. Am going to ring British Waterways (people in charge of canals and navigations) in the next day or two to try and arrange ongoing volunteer placement with them to get more experience. other than that just keep applying in a desperate bid to escape the hell I am in at the moment with work
RSPB - no chance. Same for EH as they have very few rangers. No am looking at people like the National Trust (england & Scotland) as well as local councils.
